History: MACE building business past, present
and future.
Brothers John & James Haslett went into business in 1854 supplying
a variety of stock to grocers and chemists in the Belfast area.
Over the years the company prospered concentrating on food wholesaling.
In 1959 the MACE symbol was formed with other UK and Scottish wholesalers;
with the first Northern Ireland MACE store opening in 1960.
Growth
J&J Haslett Ltd. has grown substantially over the years with
MACE at its heart with a turnover in excess of £213 million
and 350 staff. A key factor in the companies success has been the
commitment to modern retailing - regularly revamped fascias and
design, the latest in transportation and warehousing supported by
cutting edge technology.
